You’ve landed here because you’re likely on a mission to find something, smoeone, or some place that is going to help you feel better.
Maybe you’ve tried physical therapy before, and it really disappointed or fell short of what you needed in your recovery. Well, you’ve come to the right place. Awaken Wellness emerged from years of contemplating what the best physical therapy practice should offer to clients. Over 26 years of experience in living life, listening to the needs and desires of patients, and the demands of providing physical therapy and yoga instruction prompted the creation of Awaken Wellness Physical Therapy. If you’re searching for something different than your typical “McTherapy” clinic of “PT Gym experience,” then you’ve come to the right place.

Your path to pt, made easy
In Indiana, you can go directly to a physical therapist without a referral from your doctor for up to 90 days as long as you’re demonstrating progress in your recovery. If you have a serious illness or injury, a PT won’t take the place of other doctors, but they will work with your doctors and other health care professionals to guide treatments. You’ll feel better! And, you’ll be more likely to get back to full function in the area being treated, and in most cases, faster than without the guidance of a PT.
you are priority #1
Awaken Wellness Physical Therapy is unique in our approach to your recovery in that you WILL NOT share your reserved care time with anyone else. Many PT clinics treat 2-4 patients at the same time, which is NEVER the case at Awaken Wellness. Some PT establishments may fall short in addressing the needs of you as a whole person, fragmenting care and limiting the potential to create real change. We seek to understand your unique psychological, social, environmental, and lifestyle circumstances to help you heal with the most effective physical therapy interventions that are best for YOU. You have a choice and a voice in your care with Awaken Wellness Physical Therapy. After all, you are the one investing your time, financial resources, and energy into achieving your goals for health and well-being. This is your recovery, and we’re here to help you reach your goals by delivering impactful, hands-on therapeutic interventions and modalities tailored just for you. You will experience evidence-based intervention infused with a holistic approach to care in order to create the most optimal healing experience. We are not the typical “PT gym” that many other clinics offer.
We invite you to begin your unique journey of healing with us.
Come experience the difference yourself.
More than just physical therapy:
Wellness is our SOUL
Awaken Wellness Physical Therapy is more than just Physical Therapy. While patient care is the heart of our services…wellness is our soul. We want everyone to be well in body, mind, and spirit.
We feel that wellness is a journey that creates harmony in all aspects of your being.
Awaken Wellness not only offers physical therapy to improve the physical body, but yoga and wellness packages to address your whole Being. Wellness comes in the form of selfcare: nurturing yourself through acts of movement & exercise; utilizing the power of touch/soft tissue mobilization to promote relaxation and restoration; mindfullness/meditation which improve sleep, focus, and quality of life; pranayama (“Prana” means life energy and “yama” means control) or the practice of breath regulation which is scientifically documented to: reduce stress, depression, anxiety, improve lunch function, enhance cognitive performance, reduce cigarette cravings; healthy nutrition to fuel your body with loving awareness.
The difference between Physical Therapy and Wellness is that a Wellness Visit will not diagnose, address or treat specific injuries or physical ailments. Wellness at Awaken Wellness is guiding you through an active, lifelong dynamic process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Wellness is a holistic integration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, fueling the body, engaging the mind, and nurturing the spirit. Our Wellness services are for everybody including individual and corporate settings.

trauma sensitive yoga
According to the American Psychological Association (APA), trauma is “an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster.” However, a person may experience trauma as a response to any event they find physically or emotionally threatening or harmful. Many of us have experienced different degrees of trauma throughout our lives. Research is showing that trauma is stored in our bodies’ tissues (cells, muscles, and fascia) until it can be released. This stored trauma, over time, may lead to pain and progressively erode a body’s health.
Emotions are the vehicles the body relies on to find balance after trauma. Unexpressed emotions become stored and held in the body and, over time, create physical tightness, stress, tension, and sometimes pain. Yoga is an excellent tool to release emotional tension in the body and to experience the healing that comes from this release without words. Trauma sensitive yoga practiced regularly, over time, helps balance your nervous system, calm your mind and regulate physical responses to your world. Trauma sensitive yoga is often recommended by mental health providers with numerous proven benefits including: improving concentration, focus, attention, and inward awareness; reduces anxiety and anger; reduces the impact of exaggerated stress responses (fight, flight or freeze); provides emotional regulation; aides relaxation, sleep and mood. SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration agency with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) lists eight dimensions of wellness that are all represented through the power of regular yoga practice (physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, vocational, financial, environmental).
Trauma informed yoga is an approach to create a safe, supportive space in which students can learn emotional regulation skills through connection with the breath and increased body awareness in the present moment. Trauma sensitive yoga is much different than a typical “yoga exercise class.” Our yoga instructors have been trained in specifically guiding students in their practice utilizing the five principles of trauma sensitive yoga: safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment. Ensuring the well-being of each yoga student is our goal, so you may experience healing when words are sometimes hard to find. Trauma informed yoga is never meant to take the place of therapy with you mental health provider or medical provider. However, Trauma Sensitive Yoga in combination with these other types of therapies can help you achieve a truly fulfilling life. Come as you are whether brand new to the world of yoga, or a lifelong yogi at heart.
we would be honored to
come along side you and guide you on your journey of healing and well-being.

We strive to honor the truth in our business existence from the root of Christian philosophy. Awaken Wellness is grounded in Misison, Core Values, and Motto through the principles of Christianity.
Misison:
John 17:4: Jesus says in prayer, “I have brought you (God) glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.”
We strive to bring God glory by completing the work God gives us to do through the power of the Holy Spirit, utilizing the gift of healing which He has gifted us with.
Core Values:
Mark 12:30-31: Jesus responds when asked what the greatest commandment is: “Lovev the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself: There is no commandment greater than these.”
Awaken Wellness Physical Therapy strives to abide by this commandment by Loving God first with our All… and Loving All others as we love ourselves. We will treat you the way we want to be treated by providing compassionate, loving care to those entrusting us with this honorable duty.
Motto:
Matthew 5:14 & 16: Jesus tells his disciples: “You are the light of the world. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.”
Our works at Awaken Wellness are not about prideful arrogance. We give God the glory as He has led us to this calling. We are simply fulfilling the work God gives us to do in order to glorify Him.
